About Heidi Loewen

ML_Profile red.png

Heidi Loewen is a distinguished curator, gallerist, and sculptor with a rich background in the art communities of New York, Boston, Santa Fe, and New Mexico. Influenced by her artistic family and her love of the outdoors, she draws inspiration from music and nature, particularly skiing, which impacts her porcelain and metal sculptures. She believes the business side of art offers rewards equal to those of creating, as evidenced by her successful corporate team-building classes.

Loewen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in fine art, art history, and languages from Skidmore College and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. From 1979 to 1985, she was the business manager at Sotheby's Art Auction House in New York before becoming the assistant curator for the Spring Creek Art Foundation in Boston. After moving to Santa Fe in 1990, she opened her own gallery and teaching school, achieving significant success at Heidi Loewen Fine Art Gallery.

An active member of the Santa Fe Art Gallery Association, Sotheby's, she has taught ceramics at the Georgia O'Keef Sotheby's. Her six-foot-tall metal sculpture, "It's the Shoe that Makes the Woman," is a landmark on the roof of her gallery. Honored as the Santa Fe Artist of the Year, she has received numerous awards and continues to exhibit her work globally.
